Charisma Carpenter is an American actor, best known for her performance as "Cordelia Chase," in the popular series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. Carpenter also trained in dance and was an experienced cheerleader. Carpenter only became an actor by chance. Carpenter was discovered by an agent representing commercials in Los Angeles while she was waiting tables. She quickly rose to become a prominent character in one the most loved dramas of fiction in the 90s. After years of playing "Cordelia," Carpenter had short-term stints in teen series such as "Miss Match," "Charmed,' and 'Veronica Mars. Her reality show on 'Investigation Discovery, 'Surviving Evil' (originally titled 'I Survived Evil'), stunned a large number of viewers. The show included Carpenter who told her story of horror of being raped by a serial rapist when she was just 21. Carpenter's dark side was made clear to viewers. In the year 1991, Carpenter and her two acquaintances were assaulted by 29-year-old police officer Henry Hubbard Jr. at Torrey Pines State Beach in San Diego. Hubbard was able to take Carpenter hostage and instructed her to tie up her two friends. She bravely refused to follow his orders, allowing plenty of time for her companions to fight Hubbard. Hubbard and her companions suffered minor gunshot wounds. Hubbard was taken into custody later. Carpenter has saved a vital item of evidence, a police-issue flashlight, which led to the sentence of 56 years in prison for the serial perpetrator of rape.
