Her initial inspiration was shadows cast on grass. Months later she devised a process which did not make the subject onto canvas in an image that was flat. This way, the object is turned into an image. This is particularly true with living objects as well as those that are likely to perish, such as fruit or even humans. Alexa's painting style exhibits a hazy quality and all that remains of Alexa Meade's work is her photo. Trompe-l'oeil art is created by combining the two techniques of photography and painting. The result is an unflattened and two-dimensional photograph. Occasionally, Meade integrates her painted models into the 3D space around them, allowing them to interact within the self-created universe. This way, the line between painting and photography can be dissolved.
